First Reconciliation for Children

This year we will be celebrating the First Reconciliation of our students preparing for First Communion on January 13th 2024 at 9:00 in the morning. Parents and students are invited to come and make their Confession as part of a Penance Service, beginning with Scripture reading and examination of conscience and concluding with time for individual Confessions.

Parents are also invited to take this opportunity to witness to your children what it means to live out their faith by participating in the Sacramental Life of the Church, particularly the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At Baptism, parents take on the responsibility of teaching their children the Catholic faith and Pope Paul VI reminds us that students will "listen more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.”

Your example to your children is the most powerful part of their faith formation and it will shape how they incorporate faith into their own lives as they grow up. As we draw closer to the day of First Reconciliation, please continue to talk to them about making a good confession and practice with them what they are going to do and say. I have included some resources for you and your family that you can use at home to continue to prepare for this Sacrament.
